Rockhound - What I Learned in this Unit

1. I learned that some rocks have fossils in them.

rocks with fossils show different shaps and sizes. It takes thousands of years for Plants,animals and bugs to turn into fossils.

2. Somtimes poor people find rocks with gold in the rock. Gold is used as money and in jewelry. Anything made from gold is very expensive.

3. I learned that diamonds are the hardest minerals. Diamonds are minerals but diamonds are also a rock. Lots of diamonds are used for jewelry.

4. I learned that talc is the softest mineral. Talc falls apart

and diamonds don't. Talc is used as a cosmetic in talcum powder(baby powder).

5. I learned that certain rocks could float.This rock is called pumice. It is filled with many tiny air bubbles.

I still want to learn more about Diamonds
