Rockhound - What I Learned in this Unit

1)Metamorphic rock used to be igneous rock or sedimentary rock. The rocks are under tons and tons of pressure and heat and this causes them to change. There are to kinds of igneous schist and gneiss.

2)There is a substance from the sedimentary rock that is used to make chalk. The substance that is used to make chalk is called limestone. Limestone can be used for gravel too.

3) Rocks are made up of minerals. A mineral is a naturally occurring, inorganic solid with a definite chemical composition and a crystalline . Minerals can be identified by

certian properties, such as colour srteak, luster, hardnes, magnetism, and crystal shap.

4) Some of the substances in sedimentary rocks are used to make pottery. Most people make bowls. Sometimes people make little statues.

5) Most rocks are destroyed by erosion and weathering caused by wind, rain and running water. Sometimes erosion will take thousands of years to work.

I would still like to learn about waterfalls and I would do this by going to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waterfalls.
